Currently there is only one college of Podiatric Medicine within the State of Florida. Barry University, located in Miami Shores, offers a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree. Although all colleges of Podiatry may not specifically require a Bachelor of Science degree it is very rare for a student to successfully apply to a College of Podiatric Medicine without completing his/her undergraduate degree. Podiatric Medicine students must take introductory courses in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics, obtain a suitable scores on the Medical College Admission Test or Graduate Record Examination (MCAT or GRE), and submit a competitive application including letters of reference from faculty and a podiatrist. Application is made to these programs through the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Services (AACPMAS). See the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine website (AACPM) for additional information.
